I’m Suro Jason Inay, head of the Inayan System of Eskrima. I learned this art from my father, Mangisursuro Mike Inay, from my uncles, and from the teachers who shaped me. For 46 years I’ve carried it forward — through the training hall, the streets, the doorways of bars, the chase of fugitives, and the hard lessons of life on the line.
But this story doesn’t start with me. Filipino Martial Arts were born out of survival — forged in tribal conflicts, tested against foreign invaders, and carried into the great wars of history. Our ancestors fought with blade and stick against Spanish conquest, defended freedom in the Filipino–American War, and stood side by side with American and Filipino soldiers in World War II.
This isn’t a sport art. It wasn’t built for referees or three-minute rounds. Eskrima was shaped for the battlefield, for the street, and for everyday life — where clarity, discipline, and resilience mean survival. It is a warrior’s art, practiced by real warriors.
That’s the spirit behind the Inayan System of Eskrima, and the spirit behind this shop.
